Nobody has things just as he would like them. The thing to do is to make a success with what material I have. It is a sheer waste of time and soul-power to imagine what I would do if things were different. They are not different. Nobody's problem is ideal. Nobody has things just as he would like them. The golden rule is of no use whatsoever unless you realize that it is your move. Habits are safer than rules; you don't have to watch them. And you don't have to keep them, either; they keep you. Our best friends and our worst enemies are our thoughts. A thought can do us more good than a doctor or a banker or a faithful friend. It can also do us more harm than a brick. Most of the fear that spoils our life comes from attacking difficulties before we get to them. You often get a better hold upon a problem by going away from it for a time and dismissing it from your mind altogether. |
